The annual Southern Pines Blues & BBQ Festival on Dec. 9-10 at Forest Capital Park in Perry, Florida will once again host the best amateur and professional BBQ teams in the Southeast.

In addition to rock-n-roll blues music all weekend long, the event will also feature the “Triple Crown Open BBQ Competition” and the “Backyard BBQ Open Division” for area teams that want to compete for awards and cash prizes.

Admission is FREE to the event, which includes rockin’ blues music, John Boy & Billy Sauce contest, People’s Choice BBQ sampling, Kidz-Que Grillmaster Contest (ages 6-15), BBQ vendors, arts & crafts, kids’ games, BBQ samples and a book signing by legendary BBQ Chef Myron Mixon of the Jack’s Old South BBQ team, author of a new New York Times #1 best-selling book.

The top 10 professional BBQ teams from Florida, Georgia and Alabama will compete in the Triple Crown Invitational BBQ competition featuring a $1,500 “Grand Champion” cash prize and trophy ($700 for Reserve Grand), as well as $400 for first place in four categories (Ribs, Chicken, Brisket and Pork).

This year, organizers are adding a “Kidz-Que Competition.” There is a $10 entry fee and Kid Cookers will be cooking hamburgers and chicken (ages 6-13) and pork chops and chicken (ages 14-17) for 1st through 5th place prizes.

BBQ lovers can also compete in the “John Boy & Billy” Grilling Sauce Contest for a new guitar signed by John Boy & Billy.

Amateur teams can compete in the “Backyard” Division for $300 and a trophy ($200 for second), as well as the “Backyard Homeboy” trophy for the best team in the area.
