Grouper season open on both coasts!
The recreational harvest of grouper re-opened on April 1 in all Gulf of Mexico waters and on May 1 off Florida’s Atlantic Coast and Monroe County.
The NOAA National Marine Fishery Service (NMFS) and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) closed the Gulf recreational shallow-water grouper fishery (gag, black, red, yellowfin, scamp, yellowmouth, rock hind and red hind) Feb. 1 - March 31 to protect gag grouper during the spawning season.
In Atlantic Coast waters, the harvest of shallow-water grouper was closed for the first four months of 2010.
