Florida hunters have a little extra incentive to hit the woods this year, as more than 20 businesses have stepped up to donate prizes for Woods ‘n Water’s “Florida Buck of the Year” contest.
The prizes listed below will be divided among the hunters taking the top 10 highest-scoring bucks, as well as the “Highest Scoring Typical,” “Top Archery Buck,” “Top Public Land Buck” and highest-scoring buck taken by a female hunter:

In order to be eligible for the contest, the rack must be scored by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and accepted for entry into the Florida Buck Registry (FBR) no later than July 31, 2012.
Only deer killed during a legal 2011-12 Florida hunting season are eligible. Any native Florida whitetail legally killed under fair-chase conditions during any legally established 2010-11 hunting season is eligible – except bucks killed on private, pay-to-hunt game ranches, preserves or any privately-owned property operated as a for-profit hunting enterprise. Bucks killed on property operated as a for-profit hunting enterprise, specifically deer taken inside of a deer-proof fence, regardless of size or acreage, are not eligible.
