"Florida Top 4 Non-Typical Buck Contest"

1st Non-Typical

BEGINNER’S LUCK! SYLVIA GREEN HAD NEVER HUNTED BEFORE last December when two co-workers invited her to hunt in Madison and supplied her with the gun, clothes and a very lucky stand. It resulted in this monster 15-point non-typical that scored 178 inches gross and netted 163-7/8 inches. Sylvia is flanked by friends and co-workers Allen Cooper (left) and Zane Bodiford (right).

2nd Non-Typical

FANTASTIC 15-POINTER! Jimmy Mansolo of Gainesville shows off his awesome non-typical buck. It sported five abnormal points that added over 19 inches to the rack's gross non-typical score.

3rd Non-Typical

ROGER PELFREY'S AWESOME 15-POINT BUCK sported an impressive rack that grossed 151-6/8 inches and had only 4-4/8 inches in deductions to net 147-2/8 inches as a non-typical. The big buck, sporting 7-inch brow tines, was caught on a trail camera (left) one month before Roger harvested it on opening day of general gun season (Oct. 28) in Hendry County.

Contrary to popular belief, trophy whitetail deer are harvested in Florida each year. Woods 'n Water's Florida Buck-of-the-Year contest awards hunters for the best trophy deer taken each year.

Congratulations to all winners! Woods 'n Water appreciates the contributions of Tom Wright and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) who maintain the Florida Buck Registry, which is used to decide contest winners each year. To enter the Woods 'n Water Buck-of-the-Year Contest and have your buck scored, contact the nearest FWC office.
