First Place

First Place - Jim Cason of Williston

Jim Cason of Williston claimed the honor of taking the number one typical buck killed in the state of Florida last season with a beautiful 12-point taken with a .30/06 on Nov. 26, 2004 while hunting in Marion County. Cason’s trophy buck measured an impressive gross score of 163-1/8 inches.

Second Place

Jay Leonard of Crawfordville earned second place in the “Buck of the Year Contest” with an amazing 10-point killed in Suwanee Ridge WEA in Hamilton County. The monster buck was scored as a typical, grossing 147-7/8 inches and netting 145-1/8 Boone & Crockett inches, making it one of the highest-scoring buck harvested on a mobility-impaired hunt.

Third Place (Tie)

Third Place - Jack Hittinger of Tallahassee

Jack Hittinger of Tallahassee took an impressive wide-racked 10-point on Dec. 11 in Leon County that earned him a tie for third. The monster buck’s rack was grossed 147-4/8 inches and netting 144-6/8 inches. The rack, which accumulated an identical 63-3/8 total inches for each antler, had no abnormal points.

Third Place - Scott Chaires

Scott Chaires tied for third in the state with a great 13-point killed in Jefferson County on the day after Christmas, 2004. The trophy buck’s rack was scored 152-5/8 gross inches and netted 144-6/8 Boone & Crockett inches.

Mike Pettis of Southport won a spot in the top ten with an impressive tall-tined nine-point he killed in northeast Bay County on Dec. 28, 2005. The rack scored 149-1/8 inches gross as a typical and finished with a net score of 142-2/8 inches after 6-7/8 inches in deductions for differences between the two antlers.

Josh Roberts, age 14, of Chipley recorded two top 20 Bucks this past season, including the #6 buck in the “Florida Buck of the Year Contest.” The beautiful high-tined 10-point was taken on Feb. 5, 2005 in Jackson County with a 7mm-08 rifle and was scored as a typical, grossing 147-5/8 inches and netting 141-1/8 inches in Boone & Crockett scoring.

Brien Johnston of Lithia brought home the Seventh-highest scoring typical buck, with a near-perfect symmetrical 10-point taken in Madison, Fla. on Nov. 13, 2004. The buck grossed 143-3/8 inches and netted 140-7/8 inches with only 2-4/8 inches in deductions for differences in the left and right antlers.

Kevin Walker of Monticello took the number eight typical of 2004-05, with a great 10-point killed on opening day (Nov. 13, 2004) in Jefferson County. The big rack grossed 143-7/8 inches and netted 140-5/8 inches after 3-2/8 inches in deductions for differences in the left and right antlers.

Jack Clenney of Tallahassee hunted private land in Jefferson County to take the number nine buck killed in the state of Florida last season. Six points on either side, with no abnormal points, branched off the 21-1/8 and 21-6/8-inch main beams. Clenney's buck recorded an impressive 139-6/8 inch net score in the Florida Buck Registry.

Jason Whindam of Chipley hunted private property in Jackson County to take the #10 typical buck killed in the state of Florida last season on Nov. 26, 2004. Windham’s 12-point grossed 148-3/8 inches and ended up with a net Florida Buck Registry score of 138-4/8 after deductions.
