Free hunter safety Internet-completion courses offered in Northwest Florida

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is offering several free hunter safety Internet-completion courses in Northwest Florida.

• Calhoun County: Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, 20091 NW Maxie Waldorff Rd., Blountstown. Instruction is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 7.
• Gulf County: Gulf Correctional Institution, 500 Ike Steele Rd., Wewahitchka. Instruction is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 28.
• Jackson County: Chipola College Firing Range, 3052 Calhoun Rd., Marianna. Instruction is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 7.
• Wakulla County: Wakulla County Sheriff’s Department Otter Creek Range, 65 Qualify Lane, Crawfordville. Instruction is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 7.
• Walton County: Shooting Range, 955 Smith Rd., DeFuniak Springs. Instruction is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 8.
• Washington County: Hard Labor Creek Shooting Sports, 2131 Clayton Rd., Chipley. Instruction is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 7.

Students must complete the Internet course before coming to class and bring a copy of the final report from the online portion of the course. The final report form does not have to be notarized.

An adult must accompany children under the age of 16 at all times. Students should bring a pencil and paper with them to take notes.

Anyone born on or after June 1, 1975, must pass an approved hunter safety course and have a hunting license to hunt alone (unsupervised). The FWC course satisfies hunter-safety training requirements for all other states and Canadian provinces.
