2007 Buck of the Year Winners

First Place

Panhandle farmer PHILIP ADKISON poses with the 11-point, 205-pound “Florida Buck of the Year” in a planted field on his family farm near Chipley. The buck’s antlers measured 154-7/8 Boone and Crockett inches, ranking it #10 on the list of Florida’s all-time highest-scoring whitetails ever taken.

Second Place

Live Oak's LUKE LIEUPO poses with his runner-up Hamilton County giant just after it was killed. The awesome 10-point had two abnormal points that deducted from its 151-6/8 gross score.

Third Place

WAYNE SEAMAN of Graceville hunted private land in Jackson County to bag the third highest-scoring buck taken during the 2006-07 season. Wayne’s 11-point trophy was taken on Feb. 10, 2007 and had an impressive 19-5/8-inch inside spread that contributed to a 139-3/8-inch net score.

The final weekend of the season was going to be a doe harvesting trip until Herb Sheheane spotted this “old big boy” 10-point and surprised his son, Gabe, and family friend Jake Brown.

Wayne Cox of Indiantown made sure the South Hunting Zone was represented in the “Buck of the Year” Contest by harvesting a big 11-point buck in Martin County on Oct. 30, 2006.

Hamilton county produced three of the top ten highest-scoring bucks in this year’s “Buck of the Year” Contest. Clark Waters of Orlando harvested this impressive 10-point on property leased from Bienville Plantation on the opening day of general gun season. Clark found some good sign while scouting and set up his stand in the perfect location to bag the #6-ranked typical of the 2006-07 hunting season.

JEFF PEACHER’S #7 Typical buck featured the widest spread of all the top 10 bucks in the “Buck of the Year” contest. This gorgeous 14-point sported a 20-3/8-inch inside spread and 22-3/8-inch greatest spread, as well as a 13-2/8-inch tip-to-tip spread.

Public land prize! Jaime Rodriguez of Sorrento tied for the #8 spot in the Florida “Buck of the Year” contest with this gigantic 9-point buck taken on Rock Springs Wildlife Management Area.

This late-season buck earned Collis Hobby, Jr. a tie for the #8 spot in the Florida “Buck of the Year” contest. The bruiser gross-scored 139 inches and netted 134-5/8 inches.

PAUL BRANCH of Dade City had taken only two bucks in his life prior to bagging this impressive 10-point that placed #10 in the 2006-07 Buck of the Year Contest. The buck gross-scored 142-3/8 inches and racked up a net score of 134-2/8 inches.
