Hunter safety course this weekend in Okeechobee County

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will host a free hunter safety course June 4-5 in Okeechobee County.

With the exception of those students who have taken the online course, attendance on both days is required for certification. Students who have taken the online course and wish to complete the classroom and range portion must bring the online-completion report with them.

The location for this class will be given to those who register in advance by calling the regional office at 561-625-5122 or going to MyFWC.com/HunterSafety.

All firearms, ammunition and materials are provided free of charge. Students should bring a pen or pencil and paper. An adult must accompany children under age 16 at all times.

Anyone born on or after June 1, 1975, must complete the hunter safety course before purchasing a Florida hunting license. The FWC course satisfies hunter-safety training requirements for all other states and Canadian provinces.

Those interested in attending a course can register online and obtain information about future hunter safety classes at MyFWC.com/HunterSafety or by calling the FWC’s regional office in West Palm Beach at 561-625-5122.
