According to a caption posted with the photos, the otter eventually pulled the juvenile gator up onto a bank and began chomping on it “as evidenced by crunching noises.” The animals usually weigh between 10 and 20 pounds and generally feed on slow-moving fishes and crustaceans, but can also consume amphibians and reptiles. The post also notes that despite their cute and fluffy appearance, otters are often the apex predator in many freshwater habitats, meaning they have no natural predators of their own. Yum.”
